Chair massage brings nurturance and relaxation right in the middle of one's day. Attitude and focus can so radically improve that the time during the massage and its immediate effects may feel like sheer magic. Ample research has proven the many benefits of chair massage in the workplace.
The massage chair's origins are seen in its lower half, which is precisely the invention called the kneeling chair. Wikipidea's history cites their creator Peter Opsvik and his unique Variable balans chair. David Palmer invented the massage chair about two decades later in 1986. His additions of chest, head, and arm rests make the experience a whole body 'let go'. Since then the chairs have become highly portable and very versatile in adjusting for anyone's comfort. Oftentimes therapists massage only the upper back quadrant of a person. I have found, as David Palmer first intended, that chair massage really can address the whole body and help one integrate.
The massage chair's practicality and innovations often make it my preferred support for my recipients, unlike many therapists who only accept it when needed as a substitute for the table. Beyond the workplace, I also love to bring in the chair for family massages at the home or on vacation, gatherings, beautiful outdoor settings, and for introducing someone to massage. Some elderly, once assisted in sitting, find the chair's differences in how it supports to bring them serious relief. My career as a therapist has included chair massage several days a week for over ten years. I also love for other wonderful therapists whom I know professionally to join with me to do chair massage for larger groups and celebrations.
